New boutique in New Fairfield offers clothing that ‘keeps up with trends in a classy manner’

NEW FAIRFIELD — With midriff-baring and skintight fashion back in style, Nicole Sudano decided to open a boutique for women like herself who aren’t looking to jump on the bandwagon but still want to look trendy.

“Once I became a mom and would go shopping, the only things I could find in actual stores were crop tops and skin-tight clothing,” she said. “It’s hard to even find a hoodie that’s not cropped these days.”

With limited in-store clothing options, Sudano turned to online shopping — but that, too, she said “can be a pain in the butt.”

“Not only do you have to wait for it to come in,” she said, “but you might not like it and that can be a problem if you have an event to go to and don’t have time or anything else to wear.”

Sudano decided to take matters into her own hands and open The Trend Co. in New Fairfield’s Heritage Plaza on Route 39.

“I wanted to offer clothing that keeps up with trends in a classy manner,” said Sudano, whose boutique officially opened Thursday.
